First Game of the Season

This Sunday sees the Hilljills ladies restart their season with an away trip to the Capital
to face Edinburgh University. The ladies are still in the process of rebuilding their
backline after the loss of international centre duo Katie Davies (who is rumoured to be
trailing for county level in England) and Vik Blakebrough (who is now plying her trade
in the exile hotbed that is Richmond Rugby Club). An influx of foreign players has
helped boost numbers including a Canadian Wing and a New Zealand all rounder.
Reinforcements have also come in from the other side of the city and old rivals are
now enjoying being team mates.

Captain Wilko added “Despite the loss of a few notable players last season we have
had a good pre-season with our new coach and some very welcome new faces. I am
looking forward to the season ahead and hope that we can better our position in the
league and cup this year. Although it already is in spirit, I would like to see Hilljills
become the best ladies team in Scotland this season.

Unfortunately the ladies have suffered a major blow with inspirational scrum half
Rachael Nicolson out for the next few weeks after suffering a grade 2 medial ligament
tear while on Scotland duty. We wish her a (very!) speedy recovery.

KO. 2pm Peffermill.

BBQ at Hughenden Saturday 25th August

Not wanting to go to the effort of arranging her own farewell bash, Vik has decided to
combine the big Hugheden BBQ with her "Official Going Away Party". All are welcome
to wish her well on her jaunt down south
