| Hills v Cartha 19th August 2006 Hills lost to Cartha 22-19 Due to severe player shortages the Hughenden game against Shawlands was called off, so those players available went with a much depleted 2nd XV. From the off Hills dominated the game up front in both the line-out, scrum and loose. Hills forwards provided ball for the backs to created holes in the Cartha defense. From such pressure resulting in a 10m scrum, John Dillon picked and barged over with con fron S Torbet. 7-0. Further forward interplay between Sumo, Kitch and Hoppy saw Dave Buchanan score, 12-0. A speculative kick over the top and chase saw Hoppy touchdown with Stu T adding the points. Halftime 19-0. Ten changes in the second half resulted to give the subs some game time. This allowed Cartha back in the game scoring 3 tries. The subs that came on tried their hardest but could not get up to running speed and further changes at the end allowed Cartha a last minute try and con to win. Final Score 22-19. Best wishes to man of the match Chris Williamson as he leaves Hills to work in Ireland. He will be badly missed. Dick of the day to Kitch, forgot boots. Thanks to Murray Bell for managerial skills unknown. Match report from Roger Melly. |
