| Hughenden v Strathaven 14th October 2006 Hughenden lose to Strathaven 33-22 Well another day and a another referee would have probably resulted in a victory for thre 'Hughs' but it was not to be. After an early season thrashing of 'Hughs', Strathaven probably thought this would be an easy one on Saturday up in the wilds of Lanarkshire. However a team much improved stormed in to a 12-0 lead after 15 mins with some good solid rugby played. Then with a combination of a poor referee and a lack of concentration allowed the home team to draw level by half time. At the beginning of the second half and not for the last time 'Hughs' burned their shirts and allowed two very soft tries. Heads dropped for a while but a late surge saw 'Hughs' peg the score back to 26-22. In the dying moments of the game the home side scored to close out an action packed game. Much talk of the poor ref later, may concentrate minds for next week against league leaders Wigtonshire's visit to Hughenden. Further team bonding at the club disco may also have helped with star performances from all the usual suspects. Best for 'Hughs' on the pitch was a joint MOTM between Stephen and Andy, our two under 18 reps, so the future so the club looks assurred. Final score 33-22. tatafornow. RM |
